Film on the Beauty of Large Format
Large format photography represents a relatively small niche of the industry - this is most likely due to the fact that it is much easier to carry a point and click camera than to carry all that bulky equipment with you. This is especially true if you are shooting at a remote location.
Through the Ground Glass is a short film by Taylor Hawkins which illustrates these challenges, and explores how they actually contribute to the visceral side of shooting photography. Beautifully shot in high definition, the short features stunning backdrops as it follows Joseph Freeman on one of his shoots.
Joe narrates the whole time, revealing the experience and philosophy behind his craft as the journey unfolds. We love to see this sort of creative collaboration across media between artists, especially when it is done so well. You can check the film out for yourself on Vimeo.
