Frequently Asked Questions

Foam Board Order FAQs

Can I buy just one foamcore board?

Yes, you can buy as many boards as you like although it is more cost effective to buy more considering the startup costs associated with processing artwork and setting up the press.

Can I get a custom size for my posterboard? What's the maximum I can print?

We can print any size in inches, millimeters or points. Maximum printable area is 48" Wide (1219mm) x 96" Tall (2438mm).

For larger installations, foamboards can also be floor-mounted and tiled horizontally for as long as you need.

Can I print on both sides of foamcore?

Yes we can print both faces, though some people opt for printing single sides and glueing them back to back to create an even more hefty and resilient duplex posterboard.

Can I order foamcore boards with custom shapes or cutouts?

Yes, we do provide laser cutting services to provide whatever custom shape you need.

Do you offer mounting or framing services for posterboards?

Yes, we offer these services for both standard and custom framing sizes.

Do you offer discounts for bulk orders of foamcore boards?

All the time. Since foamcore is so lightweight it's easy and cost effective to ship. They are also quite fast and easy to produce which makes the delivery of many boards within a short time frame possible

Can I see a sample print before finalizing the order?

Absolutely, we can print any size sample of your artwork. Please note this is not a free service, all press samples will be billed accordingly. While it usually doesn't make sense to see a sample for small runs, it can be a real life saver when producing boards in bulk for events or branding applications.

How long will my order take? Do you provide Rush Services?

We do provide [rush service](/poster-board/rush-service) which can deliver foam boards within 12-24 hours. Standard turnaround time is 2-3 business days.

Foam Board Quality FAQs

What kind of inks are used?

We use UV cured inks in full color CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black). These inks dry quickly and retain their color for many years. NOTE: While CMYK process does cover a wide spectrum of visible colors, there will always be some which cannot be produced (metallics, fluorescents and certain families of beige)

Can I print on black foamcore board?

Yes, aside from traditional white, we can print on black foamcore board

Can you print or match stock colors from Pantone, Benjamin Moore, etc?

While we do not print spot colors or specialty inks, a majority of these colors can be successfully produced in - CMYK.

NOTE: For mission critical color matching we recommend ordering press proofs for the best results.

Is foamcore board recommended for outdoor use?

While foamcore is durable and resilient for indoor applications, it will quickly fall apart under the rain given that it is essentially a polystyrene core sandwiched between two sheets of paper.

NOTE: For outdoor posterboard printing & signs, both Sintra/PVC and coroplast are optimal solutions.

How long will my foamcore board print last?

Foamcore boards are designed for temporary use given that they can warp over time and the foam itself will yellow with age. If you are looking for more long-term foam boards you should consider going with Gatorboard (rigid, indoor foam board) or PVC/Sintra (rigid, outdoor foam board).

Are there any special care instructions for maintaining the quality of foamcore boards over time?

As long as you keep the boards clear of water or too much moisture they should prove quite durable.

What if I don't like my foam board print? Is there a return policy?

We stand by the quality of our work and will never charge the client for any errors on our part. This guarantee does not apply to errors relating to submitted artwork, which is the responsibility of the client to provide as "print-ready".

File Preparation FAQs

What file formats do you accept for artwork submissions?

We accept PDF, EPS, AI, TIFF, PSD & PSB files. For optimal results please ensure that they are at least 200dpi (300dpi for extra detail) and that your color mode is set to CMYK.

NOTE: For Indesign and Illutrator files, be sure to include any necessary fonts, or render those fonts to pixels (Rasterize command) or vectors (Create Outlines command) in order to avoid any delays with prepress.

How do I upload artwork?

We highly recommend cloud storage platforms like WeTransfer, Google Drive or Dropbox, especially for submitting high resolution artwork which are simply too big fit in an email.

What does bleed mean in printing? Why and when should we use it?

Bleed refers to the extra area around the actualy trim line. It is useful when you wish to extend an image or color all the way to the edge of the print. Minimum bleed size should be 1/8 of an inch.

What is the "safety zone" in printing?

The safety area refers to the inner 1/4 inch margin that is considered safe to put any text. In printing sometimes there is a subtle shift which may cause critical text beyond this margin to be trimmed away. It is basically wiggle room to ensure that your message appears intact.

Should I include crop marks in my design?

Crop marks are only necessarywhen submitting artwork that has a bleed margin. For all other applications simply size your canvas to your final size and we will handle the rest.

Do you offer design services for customers who need assistance creating their artwork?

Yes, we offer graphic design, layout and typography services. We can develop and adapt existing designs, or come up with a completely original concept based on your requirements.
